46 Ice Cream Trucks Towed as Part of 'Operation Meltdown' in NYC

Summer in the city will be a lot quieter after cops in The Big Apple towed away dozens of ice cream trucks in a sting operation on Wednesday. According to Mayor Bill de Blasio, the 46 vehicles were seized in "Operation Meltdown" for traffic law violations and unpaid fines over the last decade. Operators got away with it for so long by creating "shell" corporations to avoid paying nearly $4.5 million in fines from up 22,000 summonses, the city claims. The tickets were originally issued for blocking crosswalks, running red lights, and parking near fire hydrants. It sucks for all the ice cream lovers in the city, but these the people running these trucks clearly don't think they need to follow the law.
